This competition focused on the creation of a new urban entrance for Plateforme 10, Lausanne’s arts district, located between the railway station and the cantonal museums. The project explored how this major cultural hub could better connect with the city and become a true transitional space between infrastructure, public space and cultural institutions.
The program aimed to rethink pedestrian access and circulation in order to improve the legibility of the site, strengthen its relationship with the surrounding urban fabric and create a more fluid experience for visitors. Beyond the question of a physical entrance, the proposal was intended to address broader themes related to public space, urban sequences and the relationship between mobility, landscape and culture.
The competition also engaged with contemporary urban challenges such as soft mobility, the quality of public spaces and the integration of landscape within a dense infrastructural environment. The intervention was therefore conceived as an opportunity to create a more welcoming, identifiable and adaptable urban space capable of supporting the future evolution of the district.
